In Reagan's Shadow

Watching precipitous drop on Democratic popularity in the polls - from the anonymous Democrat to the presidential nominee - leaves me shaking my head at the sheer ineptitude of the people allegedly in charge of the operation. But even more it makes me want to take a long, hard look at why, in a political year that favors the Democrats more than any year since the FDR era, victory is being thrown away.

My take on Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton

Just for the record:

At the risk of defending Obama, I don't think that he was praising anything Reagan did.  He simply pointed out that the Reagan era marked a turning point in American politics and that neither the Nixon nor Clinton era made a similar impact.  That's inarguable, in my opinion.  That is NOT to say that the new direction was good or bad, simply that it was important.

Why do Republicans Hate Rules for Business but Accept 'em for Sports?

I've been trying to understand the rules of football for 40 years. I'm tickled when sportscasters during a major event argue over a particularly arcane rule.
Maybe you can tell I grew up taking ballet lessons instead of playing football and I only tune in occasionally while my husband is watching a game. But I loved watching the old Celtics basketball team of the 1960's featuring the greats Bob Cousy and Bill Russell. And I remember how Terry Bradshaw skidded down an icy field, turtle style on his back during a Superbowl many years ago and I appreciated Peyton Mannings spectacular end zone touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison-- sorry to Reggie Wayne in last night's game.
