"I'd like to begin this afternoon by thanking all the foot soldiers in this battle: our terrific staff, our dedicated volunteers, our thousands of loyal supporters. And most of all, those who believed in me long before anyone even knew who I was: the people who drafted me into this race. The thousands who joined together to enlist me to serve.

You have proven what a General can do when he has the greatest troops in the world. And I can't tell you enough how honored and humbled I am by your commitment, your spirit, and your sacrifice." ~ from Wes Clark's farewell remarks in Little Rock, 2.11.04

Well, in spite of the folks here who were predicting that McCain would take a steep dive in the polls after Palin's speech, I'm not surprised to find that isn't the case....that, in fact, McCain/Palin have gained in the polls, passing Obama/Biden.

What does surprise me are the viewer numbers for the acceptance speeches....McCain comes out on top, beating even the historic draw of Obama's big event. Palin close behind and poor Joe Biden way back of the pack. I expected the big audience for Palin's speech....After all, she is somewhat of a novelty. But McCain? Who knew so many people would tune in for him? I'd seen people predicting his numbers would be pathetic and I didn't believe those predictions but wow, he really pulled them in.

We are trying to reach Wes to suggest helping and endorsing Jeff Mackley for US Senate in Oregon. Recently we were very impressed with his ideas when we heard him speak. He is challenging Sen. Gordon Smith, where the race is tightening. A pick up for this Senate seat in Oregon is pivotal for the Democrats reaching a filibuster-proof
Senate. This race is now being cited by political pundits as a good possiblity for a Democratic pickup. We understand from Jeff that he spoke with Wes during the primary, and he would be delighted to have his support and help. As strong supporters of Wes since 2003 we know how valuable his support is.

How do we reach Wes with this information?

it will get to him.

Suggest adding subject line:

Endorsement Request: Jeff Mackley for US Senate in Oregon

It carries weight if his campaign also sends a request

The Cook Political Report currently has Eric's race listed as being a Toss Up:

Click on New York and then on District 29 to see the poll results.

The Hotline reports that this contest has emerged "not only as a competitive race, but also a tense one:"

"The contest has emerged "not only as a competitive race, but also a tense one." The Rep. Randy Kuhl (R) and '06 nominee Eric Massa (D) "had a confrontation" at a Kuhl presser last week "over dates for debates." Massa wants to debate and so far Kuhl "has not agreed to any specific dates." Kuhl "was upset" that Massa showed up "and demanded a debate." Kuhl: "Unfortunately, there are people who didn't have the luxury of having wonderful parents like I did who taught about parental respect." Massa said Kuhl "walks away, he gets angry, has confrontations. That's what's wrong with Washington."

In addition to "criticizing each other in public," Massa's van, which bears one of his bumper stickers, "was destroyed by someone with a bat." It was parked next to two luxury cars, which Massa said were not vandalized.

Kuhl said he knows the people in the CD because "he grew up here." Massa settled in Corning after "living in many places" (Terreri, Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, 8/26)."

Eric Massa definitely has very serious chances of winning this House race in my opinion!

It's going to be tough. It's a very very republican area. And now someone is push-polling against him. *&?!%^$&*!!!

We learn. We change. That's progress. If we don't do that, well, we're GWB.

You may have to go WesPac Securing America.com. I sent off an e-mail a few months back when I wanted Wes to Endorse Andrew Rice. And it wasn't long before he was endorsed.
It wouldn't hurt.
