Any News On Wes In Denver?

Wesley Clark
I haven't heard the schedule. Where is Wes? Did I miss him? I just got home, so I am late.
Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, Wes Clark the most decorated soldier since Eisenhower. This is just like Wednesday night, "Securing America's Future," Veterans recognized, and Duckworth on before VP. They are out and out taunting our General and us. Makes me sick.

So far he's gotten a walk across the stage, his name called, and one camera pan, as the deadly dull Gen. Gration (?) drones on. Looks like that will be it.

Sorry for the language, but that was a goddamn slap in the face (AGAIN!)

...why the phrase "swear like a sailor" came into being.

And, how he was treated makes me sick. Tune in to Morning Joe tomorrow.

If you want more of the same that's your right. Hopefully if you win after four more years you'll still have the right to make a choice.

...there was a pretty good roar from the crowd. None of the others got as much as a peep.

The roots KNOW Wes Clark.
The crowd showed him their love. You couldn't miss it.
and there was this, in yesterday's National Journal
Retired generals advising Obama bring range of expertise
[...] Some Obama advisers, such as retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark, a former NATO supreme allied commander who ran for president in 2004, have been retired for years and are familiar names in politics. But many others are recent retirees, for whom the 2008 presidential campaign marks their first foray into politics after long apolitical careers in uniform. [...]

I would tend to think you'd have to start work early to get all those flag officers to clear their schedules and fly to Denver.
If so, then General Clark was not originally invited to participate. According to either Steve Clemons or Wes Jr (I forget which one, but it might have been both), the Little Rock office called the Obama campaign and asked them if there was any reason to keep WKC's calendar open. They were told there was nothing for him to do in Denver and so no reason to attend.
Come to think of it, I'm sure it was Wes Jr, because he talked about how busy his dad's business schedule was, but that he had been willing to go out of his way to plan around the convention.
Now I'll admit, it could have been just a screw up. It's hard to believe they wouldn't want as many generals as possible. Or it could be that the scheduling staff had been told to strike WKC from their speaking list after FTN, and they just assumed it meant remove him from everything.
I suppose we'll never know.
But I'm feel pretty sure that if Clemons had not raised the issue, and probably thousands of Clarkies AND OTHER PROGRESSIVES written to Obama and/or the DNC, General Clark would not have been on that stage last night.
Regardless, it was VERY nice to hear the roar of the crowd when General Wesley Clark's name was read and he crossed the stage. He's still the most requested speaker for down-ticket Democrats, and according to one of the major bloggers (Digby?), one of the top ten most recognized Democrats across the country.
Howard Dean has said on several occasions that there was no Clark Draft. It follows then that he believes the Clintons invented it all to stop his (Dean's) campaign so Hillary could run this time around. The stalking horse theory may have have been invented by Republicans, but it was always generally accepted as fact by mos Deaniacs. Who knows how many of them are involved in the Obama campaign, and I'm sure Obama speaks to Dean himself frequently, so maybe he can be forgiven for thinking that WKC popularity and influence is a manufactured phenomenon.
I hope Obama heard the audience roar last night. He had to have been just backstage, but perhaps engrossed in getting ready to speak. I hope some of his staff heard it too, altho one should never underestimate the ability of people to hear only what they expect to.
But it didn't go completely unnoticed. I turned on Morning Joe this morning well before WKC appeared, and Joe remarked about the loud applause that the General received. Odd that he didn't mention it while WKC was actually on screen with him, but I guess it would have sounded funny after he had just congratulated Sebilius for sort of the same thing -- not her personal popularity but because Obama's family was from Kansas.

but from what I saw on the schedule, but no Wes. WTH?
