I know this is a horrendously long long post, BUT please forgive me guys.
I haven't been here for awhile due to family illnesses but I haven't forgotten so many of you and certainly haven't forgotten about my Gen!
I am wired with caffeine and spitting nails (and even cussing, sorry, 4-give me) and I'm settling in for a real rant.
It's so long I think I'll split it up into two or more posts actually and none of you will probably read it because it IS so long. That's ok.
At least I'm getting it out of system before I throw something through my tv lol.
So thanks for allowing me space to do my therapy guys whether anyone reads this novelette or not. I appreciate it.
I am so freaking mad over what they're trying to do to our Gen and being not an Obama girl, OR a Clinton girl for that matter either (didn't like ANY of the 3 choices we had - I want the GENERAL for my Prez), I am STILL definitely a WES GIRL!
Therefore, I AM signing this petition and any others I can find or hear about! HELL YES I'll sign AND support the GEN and ask him not to step away from what he said.
For ANYONE to even think that Wes Clark being the war and military hero that HE is would EVER remotely devalue another military man or woman's record and service, their valor, courage etc, well that is not only absurd, it's just unthinkable.
Only goes to show you what the mentality of these media whores who pander to the rich, powerful and almighty politicos actually know and care about (as if we didn't already know).
And please..excuse my language throughout this rant b/c I know it's unladylike & I always try to be a lady, BUT darn it...I'm just really ANGRY (as if you can't tell) that they are attacking my hero and one of THE finest men ever through sound bites and snide remarks about him and "his failed presidential bid".
If I hear that one more time I'm going to scream!
I can tell them all one thing...if Wes Clark had been elected four years ago this nation (and America's standing throughout the world) would be in a far far better shape than it is now! They can make all the snide remarks they want to and try to disparage and poke fun at Wes and his campaign, his beliefs, his honesty etc, but remember this...TRUTH HURTS folks.
And not one of our media spheres wants the TRUTH out there for God's sake!
They won't even let the man try to explain what he meant ALTHOUGH it's perfectly clear to all of us who have a tendency to think and formulate opinions on our own without being spoon fed all this crap by our "media"
I don't want Wes to apologize for ANYTHING he said. It's TRUE AND in no way is this man of honor and valor himself trying to take away anything from McCain's record or service.
Anyone who knows the General would know that immediately.
NO ONE values the service, sacrifices and records of ALL military personnel more than Wes Clark and to think otherwise is truly absurd.
They're treating this retired General like he's anti-patriotism, anti-military, anti-AMERICAN and blah blah blah, just like this administration has high jacked religion, patriotism and being American for their battle cry for almost a decade now.
Wes Clark has his OWN extensive row of medals, ribbons and awards to show for HIS patriotism, HIS valor, courage and decision making during a long long military career. He doesn't NEED anyone to defend him or his service/career BUT look at how many of us ARE.
Yes McCain was a prisoner of war. I admire him for his courage, strength and am so happy he finally came home alive when so many didn't. Wes is too. To make this about Wes "devaluing" McCain's POW status is so stupid.
BUT Wes was on the GROUND in Vietnam facing the enemy up close and was wounded while fighting close up and personal. Wes HAS commanded many many soldiers and many various units throughout his long career and he HAS commanded during a war when HE did command those bombers which means that HE had to deal with the consequences of where those bombs fell as he said. He didn't just pull the levers to let them fall and let someone else take the responsibility for them, HE had to make those decisions which are certainly not easy to make.
Wes Clark has been there, done that and I'm so angry, disgusted and well, angry doesn't begin to cover it.
Please General, do NOT back down (you never have so please don't do it now) and retract anything you said.
WE (and anyone with half a brain..sadly there aren't many people out there now that HAVE even a sliver of one to think for themselves) know what you meant and what context your words were in.
My Senator, Jay Rockefeller said the very same thing back in April and he caught hell for it too, but I agreed with him and I agree with you, General.
The Repubs ALWAYS start this crap about being "strong enough" and "able" to "defend" us and now we have a real life war hero in McCain. Yes, he IS one and we all give him that and honor him for it.
BUT they are the ones who always start this crap about the Dems not having what it takes. My God though if anyone dares fire back at THEM.
Wes didn't smear McCain's record or make light of his service but we're pounding sand here sadly.
I don't remember which show or even network I was watching last night - I watched the Abrams show with Wes and wanted to scream "Go Wes" when he was TRYING to get his point across to Dan while Dan kept trying to put words in Wes's mouth that he didn't say to begin with.
Anyway, it probably was CNN, but Bill Bennett was on there with someone else...oh, oh, I remember, it was James Carvelle! and despite Bennett taking up for McCain naturally, he also said a couple or three times that he thinks BOTH sides, BOTH candidates whoever they are - whenever it is, should be able to take criticism about this and then move on. I agree.
John McCain? You ARE an honorable man I'm sure. Just because you're a Repub doesn't make me despise you. And you ARE a POW survivor and war hero and we honor you for that and thank you for your service and sacrifices, HOWEVER, I think deep down Mr. McCain you KNOW that Wes did NOT intend to dis your record or service so I hope that once all this media circus dies down, you and he can someday sit down and talk out of the media's eye.
Politics ARE war as we all know and there are casualties and a LOT of collateral damage.
It's so sad that ANYONE'S military service/record and their valor, courage and patriotism is dragged through these nasty mud slinging campaigns.
ALL of them should be held in reverence and thanked.
THAT goes for General Wes Clark, USA (Retired)...FOUR STAR General Clark I might add. HE deserves much better than what this bunch of media hounds are giving him but I'll say one thing (although there are MANY positive and wonderful things to say about him) for our General...he sure knows how to make an entrance lol.
AND I agree with Carvelle who said that he can't understand why Obama's apologizing. Neither do I!
Just move on and leave it alone and hopefully John McCain who IS an honorable man I believe (if slightly misguided since he's a Repub and truly WILL be Dubya's 3rd term) will too.
I'm with Wes (and Jay)...just because Obama hasn't been in the service doesn't make him any less qualified than McCain. THAT seems like such a simple point and simple message that the media has turned into something ugly and once again twisted the words of a very very good man!
So you go General Clark!
(to be continued lol) see part II
(edit) Very sad.
I'm sorry you've been under stress, great write though!
Isn't it wonderful to be so passionate?
Looking forward to Part 2!
is that the MSM fears that Clark will be "O"'s running mate and being in the tank for McCain as they are, they are trying to KNOCK Wes out of contention as a VP. National Security is all McCain has going for him -- and that's a shaky claim, but with Wes on a ticket with "O", that takes away McCain's ace in the hole!
They fear Clark so the push to knock him out is strong.

haven't talked in a long time.
